As I’m getting off my “soap-box”, be sure to stop by and show your support to your local DJ’s. The Common Market is a very chill place to groove at. You might make new friends, run in to old friends, I mean ,..... hell, you might even meet that special someone! There is something there for everyone. Oh, yeah. How could I forget? They make great sandwiches too! So if your Jerry Springer fetish is a salami sandwich, then you can get that with a side of badass music and great company.

I have the flyer here and stay posted to my
iCAL for this and future events.

I called this one Wild West Metropolis, because Red Dead Redemption recently released, and yes I’m completely hooked. Who doesn’t like a good western movie? I also love Futuristic / Robotic / Sci-fi type movies, like an all time classic Metropolis. If you have not seen this, you should. It is a silent movie with classic 1920s Close Captioning. I think it was filmed or playing in theaters in 1927. So if you have that someone special who likes those old fashioned black & white silent romance movies, you might want to try this one. I think you’ll see that our DJ set is a lot like this title. Lo-Tek spins on the classic vinyl turntables and 7pavig spins on the futuristic digital turntables. Neither style of turntable is black & white. They both can boast a full-bleed of color.

The CM Sessions - Antronix

Event: Antronix - The CM Sessions Vol. 1
Location: The Common Market (South End) Patio
Time: 6:00 P.M. - 12:00 PM
DJ: 7pavig & DJ Lo-Tek

Last night we a great time mixing music for the Friday night Regulars. It was a beautiful Friday evening. Not a cloud in the sky, or at least not many to speak of. I opened the night on the patio. I had about an hour before Lo-Tek arrived. There were a lot of kids running around and having a great time. Some guy was making balloon swords and gave them to the children. I was hit several times by the kids as I unloaded my gear. I started the night with old funk, soul, and cool jams like that. I started to see some of the folks dancing. Even the kids loved it. Soon enough we had started rocking the place with some groovy breaks and beats. I unofficially called it Antronix. Why? Well, Lo-Tek is a master of Analog Turntables, you know, the real deal. This takes skill and mastery. As I last checked, vinyl still does not display the waveform. 7pavig works mostly with electronics, aka Digital Vinyl. Together a six hour set of beats, soul, funk, breax, tech, step, house, and dub. The music was loved by everyone. I only have some of the show recorded for some reason but I think you’ll get an idea of what our show was like. If you like what you hear make sure you let the Common Market know on
www.myspace.com/cmsouthendmusic , and request us. Hell, go to your favorite club spot and request they book us.

Notorious Dub

Simply put, NOTORIOUS. If you didn't like this track back in the day, you are freakin' crazy. I used to love jamming out to Biggie and Bone. I’m from a small hick town located in the mountains of Virginia. My boys and I would get slammed drunk, and listen to Bone’s album “E. 1999 Eternal” and “Creepin’ on tha Come Up”. We also would jam out on B.I.G. and other artists like Warren G, Roots, etc. We would often take instrumental tracks from our “Maxi Single” tapes or CD’s, and “Freestyle” to them in the car. If you can imagine 3-4 nerdy white dudes trying to freestyle like we are some badass Hip-hop artists. We had my best friend (at the time) Chris M. flowin’ at wheel of his crappy chevy or his rockin’ 4-Runner, Bobz’ in the back with his rad ass white guy fro, “E-Dogg” Eli G. tryin’ to be a “Gangsta”, me with my buzzed head plus awesome chick-gettin’ bangs riding “shotgun”, and sometimes that crazy mutha fuka that swims across the kitchen floor, Chris “The Insane”, in the back. We would freestyle to anything from DMX to the Roots. We thought we were the best you’ve ever heard, except we most likely were not. We spent many drunken times at parties listening to crazy shit like this and playing N64’s Mario Kart, Wrestling, 1080, or 007 Goldeneye. There have been times where we had a full Marshall Stack with 2 mics, I would beatbox on one and the other would get passed around the circle. Yet again we would have the masters of the drunken freestyle craft ripping it up. So naturally I had to remix the Bone & Biggie track Notorious Thugs with two current Dubstep tracks. The first track I used is Benga’s Roller, I love the “rolling” bassline and the crazy singing. The second track I used is from Datsik, Retreat, not sure where you can buy this one but get them both, NOW! Try Beatport. I used my 'Ol Skool iPhone’s ToneTable APP hooked directly to the mic input on my computer. Then loaded up Traktor Scratch Pro with these two tracks. BAM! this is the first and original, uncut version of this “mash-up” remix. So there may be a few flaws in sync or quality. I say fuck it. Sometimes the raw and dirty tracks end up being the best. Look at So Solid Crew’s CD mix by Mc Harvey & DJ Swiss “ UK Garage Mafia”. There were many train wrecks, skips, and mistakes all around, but in my opinion one of the best energetic CD’s I have ever owned. I hope this gets that same electricity and musical soul. Please listen and if you like it, feel free to download it.
